What We Do |
|
Pizmon visits Jewish communities around the world, either for full weekends or individual performances, engaging communities in a variety of ways. Our focus is on community-wide impact. We perform at schools, community centers, synagogues, hospitals, homes for the elderly, and in virtually any communal setting. Communities that invite us for a weekend or individual performance can request any combination of the following services: Concerts – “Standard” fare for any performance group. We perform sets ranging from ten minutes to one hour, tailoring our song selection to fit the demographic of the audience. Our pieces range from classical liturgy to Israeli rock to children’s favorites to Yiddish classics, and we are very flexible. Workshops – Workshops provide some of the most memorable moments of Pizmon’s visits. We split up into groups of 2-4, teach children some of our favorite Jewish songs, and then have them perform for each other, their teachers, and for us. Workshops can be used in a variety of ways but are most effective with children, particularly in Sunday schools or day schools. Shabbat Zemirot – A visit from Pizmon is a great opportunity to have a community-wide Friday night dinner or Shabbat lunch. We will participate in the dinner, lead the community in Zemirot – songs for Shabbat – and teach a song or two, as well. Shabbat Services – We would be happy to lead any portion of the service – particularly Kaballat Shabbat, the Friday night service – and generally enliven the service with energy and harmony. In addition, some of our liturgical songs – specifically the Teva Medley, which includes Eitz Chayim, the song we sing as put the Torah away on Shabbat morning – can be integrated into the service, as well. Room-to-room visits – In addition to delivering general performances in homes for the elderly and hospitals, we often split into smaller groups and go room-to-room, singing and speaking to individuals.

Note: due to our busy performance and academic schedule, we unfortunately do not perform at individual events, such as weddings and bar/bat mizvahs.. |
